It began with a challenge to a few men…

Over the past several years The Cross Connecting Network (CCN) has worked with a group of men from the suburbs of Chicago who felt challenged to bring the gift of safe water to those in need. After being exposed at a missions challenge at their church to the work of a Christian water ministry, a small group of men decided to take on the task of raising $30,000 to provide safe water for some place in the world. They did not know where or how long it might take to raise the money. The had one only one requirement and one preference:

  • The project must involve and assist a local church or church planter committed to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • They wanted to be able to communicate directly with local leaders and get frequent reports on how the water project was impacting the community, both physically and spiritually.

As the goal of the funding neared completion, the water ministry and the men began to pray and search for the right community. The answer was Glory Center Church, located in the small village of Ndejje, Uganda (just 15 miles out of Kampala). The men were able to raise the funds and several of them were able to personally visit the project upon completion and rejoice with the community, but the story does not end there. The group went on to raise funds for two additional water projects.

The Cross Connecting Network works with groups such as this who have a desire to grow in their faith through cross-cultural work. As a result we are pleased to welcome their work as one of The Cross Connecting Network partners.

Declaring and Demonstrating the Gospel in Uganda…

As Pastor Charles Kwagala, lead pastor of The Glory Center Church, declares the gospel faithfully through the teaching and preaching of the Word, his church also actively seeks ways to speak into the culture through the practical demonstration of God’s love in meeting physical needs. In the Ndejje area, the Christian faith is the minority faith and is often opposed by religious, political and community leaders. By meeting such simple and practical needs the Gospel is seen and heard more clearly.

With a firm belief that the local church is the hope of the world (as it has been entrusted with the only message that can change the trajectory of the human heart) the Men of Willow are partnering with Glory Center Church to demonstrate the love of Christ in word and deed to the people of Uganda.

Our primary efforts have been focused on, but not limited to, safe water systems.

We are now in the process of raising $25,000.00 for our fourth water project, which will serve a community of 4,500 people. More details can be found at http://www.menofwillow.com/updates#TOC-June-2015-Update-Edition-69-

All contributions will be applied to the above water project unless specified otherwise. If you wish to designate your contribution for a different need, just send an e-mail indicating your intention to: Don Neuman at menofwillow@gmail.com.

From time to time, we present other needs that require financial support, such as providing a modest breakfast for children who attend Sunday School at Glory Center Church. The cost to feed 120 children is only $12.00 per Sunday.

Please prayerfully consider making a contribution today by going to the live webpage and scroll down to the donation box. http://crossconnecting.net/network-partners/glory-center-uganda/ .
